Language Creates Reality,
2022

19 banners made of recycled old table cloths, acrylic paint, rope. Variable dimensions.

Site-specific installation made for Heartland Festival, Egeskov Castle, Denmark.

The installation stretches 70 meters along the path from the festival entrance, where white fabric pieces adorned with painted text flutter between the park’s towering hedges.
Centered on a series of statements exploring language—its potential, power, and pitfalls—Language Creates Reality highlights the profound influence of words. Those who control language hold the power to define, categorize, write, silence, and speak.
The work underscores the importance of using language thoughtfully and responsibly, especially in an era where it is increasingly weaponized through negative rhetoric, misinformation, propaganda, and censorship. As freedom of speech faces growing threats, Language Creates Reality serves as a timely reminder of the responsibility that comes with words.
The project is generously supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
