Skin Colored Union, 2015

Polyester. 265 x 350 cm.

Special project for CHART Art Fair 2015, Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark.

A fair skin-colored flag billows above Charlottenborg’s roof at Kgs. Nytorv, its design woven from elements of several well-known national flags—the cross, the X, and the classic horizontal and vertical divisions. These geometric symbols merge into a single, unifying form.
The national flag is more than fabric; it is a ritual object, steeped in history and power. By reimagining it in an alternative hue, this flag unsettles ingrained notions of national identity, patriotism, and territorial belonging.
